"Bernina Express färdas högt upp till bergens höga glaciärer och djupt ner i Italiens vajande palmer. Den fascinerande resan tar dig längs UNESCOs världsarvsrutt RhB.”
Detta är den enda linjen för att korsa de schweiziska alperna i det fria, jämfört med att resa mestadels genom tunnlar.
Tåget har både första och andra klass sittplatser (mer om det nedan), samt badrum och en bar med snacks och läsk.
Tågen erbjuder också WiFi (även om det inte fungerade bra på vårt tåg). De har en gratistjänst som heter "InfoT(r)ainment" där du kan lyssna på en guidad tur/fakta under hela din resa på en bärbar dator eller mobil enhet. Du behöver hörsnäckor för att lyssna, men om du inte har ett par säljer tåget dem för 2 euro.
Bernina Express erbjuder inga uttag eller USB-kontakter på tågvagnarna, så planera därefter. Se till att ha dina enheter fulladdade och ta med en extern laddare som reserv. (Detta är min favorit externa laddare.)
Hur man tar sig till Alperna Via Milano – Dagstur
Från Milano, ta 06:20-tåget via TrenItalia till Tirano. Biljetten kostar $11 euro enkel resa. Detta tar dig till staden cirka 08:30.
Lämna sedan tågstationen och gå över torget till Bernina-stationen. Där köper du en förstklassig panoramabiljett till St. Moritz. Jag skulle rekommendera att köpa förstklassig förBernina Expresstill St. Moritz, men gör andra klass för resan tillbaka från St. Moritz till Tirano. Du kan också boka din biljett online. Jag läste på nätet att den ena sidan av tåget är bättre än den andra, men båda sidorna har fördelar en del av tiden. Varje sittplats är en bra sits! (Vi satt på sidan med enkelsäten, vilket var väldigt trevligt.)
Vi gjorde första klass för båda benen, men det var inte nödvändigt. Detta var den enda utflykten min man ville göra dock, så vi spenderade! Bernina Express-tåget avgår kl. 10.07 och anländer till St. Moritz kl. 12.36. (Tiderna gäller till och med oktober 2019, kontrollera webbplatsen för att bekräfta.)
SAMMANFATTNING:Du kan enkelt åka tåg från Milano till Tirano, sedan Bernina Express i Tirano till St. Moritz, stanna cirka två timmar, sedan ta RhB-tåget tillbaka till Tirano, sedan tillbaka till Milano samma dag. (RhB är röd som Bernina och kör från samma station. Den har helt enkelt inte panoramafönstren och en del av rutten är lite annorlunda.) Vi lämnade Milano kl. 06.00 till tågstationen och kom tillbaka kl. tågstationen i Milano klockan 19.00.
Bernina Express recension: Vad du kan förvänta dig
Bernina Express-tåget slingrar sig uppför berget från en höjd av 429 till 2253. Utsikten är spektakulär. Ord kan inte göra landskapet rättvisa. Du kommer att känna att du är mitt i en film som Heidi eller The Sound of Music. Upplevelsen var en av våra favoriter under vår sju dagar långa italienska semester.
Alp Grum, som är en av de högsta punkterna på 2091, är den enda hållplatsen på den 2,5 timmar långa resan där du kort kommer att kunna gå av tåget före St. Moritz. Vårt stopp var cirka 15 minuter långt, vilket var perfekt för att ta några bilder av det vackra berget och sträcka på benen lite.
DRICKS:Ta en Bernina Express-reseguide när du sätter dig på tåget. I den listar partners som om du visar din tågbiljett är du berättigad att få rabatter/gratis godsaker.
Vi anlände till St. Moritz vid 12:30-tiden. och hade drygt två timmar på sig att gå genom den charmiga byn och äta lunch. Vi njöt av en måltid på Hauser Restaurant. Missa inte att prova en efterrätt och få lite schweizisk choklad från deras dessertbutik!
Fördelar med förstaklass på Bernina Express
Den vanligaste kommentaren jag läste i grupprecensioner och på anslagstavlor om Bernina var att boka en förstaklassbiljett för att säkerställa att du kunde njuta av utsikten över bergen. Flera personliga vänner rådde också att boka första klass, en kommenterade hur mycket bättre hennes familjs upplevelse skulle ha varit om de inte hade varit i andra klass.
Om du bokar en rundtur kommer du att sitta i en andra klass tågvagn. Grupper bokar bilar i förväg. Gruppens fullhet avgör hur full din bil är och om du kommer att ha begränsade vyer. Detta var en stor anledning till att vi valde att boka resan på egen hand.
Första klass är definitivt dyrare, men ger dig många fördelar inklusive:
Mer plats:i andraklassens bilar är sätena fyra tvärsöver, medan i förstaklassbilarna är sätena bara tre på tvären, vilket betyder att alla har lite mer utrymme, inte bara i din stol, utan även för dina ben.
Mer komfort:De svarta lädersätena i första klass är bredare och bekvämare än sätena i andra klass.
Mindre människor:Även om det verkligen inte alltid är sant, var det enligt vår erfarenhet mycket färre personer på förstaklassbilen än vad som var i den andra bilen. Detta innebar att vi kunde gå från sida till sida i bilen och fånga de allra bästa vyerna och bilderna. Jag läste flera recensioner av turer/personer som åkte i andra klass och klagade över att de inte kunde se bra på grund av trånga bilar. Dessutom, på grund av färre sittplatser, även om tåget var helt fullt, skulle du kunna se bättre i en förstklassig bil eftersom färre människor sitter i de bilarna.
Tågvy:Första klass är i den sista bilen, vilket gör att du ofta får njuta av att se själva tåget färdas genom berget. Detta är en härlig utsikt att njuta av.
Vi gick av misstag ombord i en andraklassbil och satte oss i vad vi trodde var våra platser, så fick smaka på skillnaden. Jag skulle definitivt rekommendera att ta vägen upp genom de schweiziska alperna i första klass.
